I’m feeling a bit dreamy today, so for show and tell I’m sharing a piece of sculpture. This piece is sculpted from clay and soda fired. I normally wouldn’t fire a soda kiln just for sculpture, because it’s an involved process and takes a long time. But I managed to slide this piece in the soda kiln at school when some really talented potters were firing.
This piece was matte black before I fired it. All of the shine and the white dots are where the soda settled. I love how the soda accents the ridges and swirls in this piece. Haven’t had the heart to sell this one yet - so far it’s just for me!
